Super Pollutant Corporate Profile
About
About this tool
The Super Pollutant Corporate Estimator helps companies understand their exposure to super pollutant regulations, incentive programs, and voluntary carbon market opportunities. It matches your company profile against a curated database of more than 900 regulations across 200+ countries and jurisdictions, plus biomethane incentive programs and voluntary carbon market projects.
How the matching works
Five inputs from the wizard drive the results:
Headquarters country — drives the Domestic regulations tab. EU-level regulations are appended automatically when the HQ is in an EU member state.
Source countries — regulations from each country you import from appear in the Imports tab.
Export countries — regulations from each country you ship to appear in the Exports tab.
Industry sector — drives pollutant matching (e.g. Food & Beverage filters for HFC, methane, N2O) and the pollutant exposure pie chart.
Activities — refines results by what your company actually does. A regulation tagged for "oil & gas operators" only appears if you ticked that activity. Country-level treaties and broad framework regulations always appear regardless.
When the activity filter doesn't match a regulation's specific scope, the regulation is hidden — but if a regulation is country-wide or applies to all entities in a sector, it always shows. The tool errs on the side of showing more rather than less when in doubt.
Data sources
All data is curated and maintained by GBB Strategy:
Regulations — over 900 entries, with ongoing updates as new rules are issued or amended.
Threshold tags — each regulation is tagged with whether and how it scopes by company size, operations, or activity. Source URLs are recorded for verification.
Biomethane incentives — global biogas/biomethane support programs spanning capital subsidies, blending mandates, FiT/FiP, RECs, and tax credits.
VCM projects — voluntary carbon market projects from major registries.
Pollutant exposure profiles — derived from EPA's Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks (US view) and the European Environment Agency's GHG inventory (EU view).
Limitations
This tool is a directional guide, not legal or compliance advice. Specifically:
Regulations change frequently and coverage varies by country.
Threshold tagging is ongoing — for some countries (especially smaller jurisdictions) regulations may appear without activity filtering applied.
Operational thresholds (e.g. "facilities >20 MW thermal capacity") are not currently filtered by user-provided facility data — those regulations will appear regardless of your facility size.
Industry flag tagging is incomplete; results for some sectors may be broader than strictly applicable.
Always verify specific obligations with a qualified compliance professional in the relevant jurisdiction.
